The G600 boasts three extra buttons on the side of the mouse. Additionally to 12 buttons on the right side, two additional buttons up top and your left and right mouse clicks, there is a button that sits below your pinky. The G600 mouse registers the left or right motion of its wheel as well as standard button click when you push down on the wheel.

Extra buttons might confuse a new user, but in practice they are very useful. While every mouse has them, Logitech manages to make its easy to find and press the buttons when you use their model.

The G600 also comes with software customization. I have never been a huge fan of competitor Razer’s Synapse software, but it does offer a good amount of customizability that greatly expands the utility of any Razer peripheral. The G600s software is not as feature-rich at the Razer Synapse, nevertheless it is remarkably close and much easier to use.

Although Logitech G600 doesn’t offer Synapse’s convenience of programming complex macros, you can remap every key on the mouse efficiently in its driver software. In addition, it sports a few tricks of its own. This includes a built-in auto-detection system that scans your hard disk drive for compatible games and automatically switches the mouse’s layout to provide you with quick access to useful keys without ever having to reprogram the device yourself.

When I performed a scan on my drive, there were requirements for nearly twelve games to change the default button layout by matching what was displayed. The customization options for other mice are more cumbersome than the Logitech G600.

As the software is functional, the mouse hardware itself includes a few problems. To begin with, many of the buttons on this mouse are difficult to reach due to their placement and number. The buttons under the mouse wheel are difficult to press and it requires inhuman dexterity to click both buttons below the mouse wheel with your middle finger while your index finger is pressing down on the left mouse button.

The Logitech G600 mouse is unlikely to win many customers with its ergonomics. My hands are relatively large, so the G600 wasn’t uncomfortable for me to use personally, but it’s easy to imagine users finding it hard to use over long periods of time on this basis. Logitech$^1 G600 mouse is a great choice for gamers with smaller hands, but those wanting the option of changing the shape of the mouse will have to spend more.

The G600 is an excellent mouse and it is one of the most customizable mice that I have ever used. If you are looking for a well-rounded MMO mouse, then this should be at the top of your consideration list.
