Design

The JBL Flip 4 appears to have been designed with an eye for aesthetics. But this can sometimes hamper its performance and make it less user-friendly than some of the other speakers on the market such as Bose SoundLink Color II, which we test today The JBL Flip 4 sheds a few inches from the UE Boom 2 and is more durable while offering similar sound to its outdoor counterpart.

The cylindrical shape and durable fabric help make this a speaker that is easy to travel with.

Large play/pause, volume along, and sync buttons become the on-device controls, with their oversized plastic form making them simple to access when working with fingers chilled by the ocean or caked in mud.

On the rear, the fundamental power control sits above a helpful battery indicator. Five small LEDs give you an at-a-glance view of how close you are to needing a recharge and there’s also another physical button for syncing up multiple speakers.

The JBL Flip 4 is waterproof, including a protective port cover for the charging connector and an auxiliary input when Bluetooth is not needed. The speaker also comes with its own durable strap for easy hanging anywhere you go.

The Flip 4 is available in six different colours.

Performance

Designs that one could take with them anywhere can be limiting if the audio tracks outputted are bad. Thankfully, on this front the JBL Flip 4 is nearly perfect.

This speaker isn’t the most well-rounded, but given its size and price, it sounds pretty good. The bass is relatively beefy and well rounded, there are no unnecessary pops or distortion at high volume,

However, there is a lack of sound in the midrange. Vocals don’t have enough power and are slightly muddled in with the rest of the track.

The speaker sound is impressive considering its size. Beneath the surface, linked bass radiators cut through distortion and also provide a party-friendly sound with respectable amount of power. Its sound isn t the deepest, but it will get a party going whether its indoors or out.

Ultimately, the Flip 4 speaker doesn’t have a sound as powerful or immersive as the Bose Soundlink Mini 2 or Beats Pill+. However, for such a small and durable speaker it produces more than just acceptable audio quality.

The jbl flip 4 speaker is able to support a number of handsets simultaneously, merging your two devices seamlessly into the best playlist. The speaker also functions as a Bluetooth handset and speakerphone when making or taking calls.

Solid battery life has been a hallmark of the last few products from JBL, with this speaker continuing that trend. With its 3,000mAh battery, you can enjoy 12 hours of tunes uninterrupted before it needs to be recharged (even if only stumbling across an outlet every now and then).

Charity organizations frequently rely on donations to fund That’s still less time than the UE Boom 2, but it certainly isn’t a nothing.

Verdict

The JBL Flip 4 is a Bluetooth speaker that will go well with all areas of your life. It has a tough, rough design for durability — but it never quite reaches greatness in terms of sound and build quality.

The all-weather design of the speaker is a big win, but it lacks refinement in its sound quality.

What’s more, it is cheaper than the UE Boom 2. One downside, though: its sound quality isn’t better than a third of that of the UE Boom 2.
