5 Best Garmin Forerunner 35 Black Friday & Cyber Monday 2021 Offers

Garmin has a variety of GPS watches for runners and cyclists, from the $99 Forerunner 25 to the $599 fenix 3 Sapphire. The cheapest among them is probably the Forerunner 25 that costs only $99, but if you’re looking for features like water resistance up to 30 meters or built-in heart rate monitor, you will need Although the Garmin Forerunner 35 does each one of these things quite well, it doesn’t really excel at any of them which is unfortunate considering its price.

Design

Even though many of Garmin s GPS watches are circular, the Forerunner 35 looks almost identical to an Apple Watch. Its flat-faced, rectangular design stands out from other models in the Garmin collection which either look sporty (the Forerunner 235) or resemble a traditional watch (the vivomove). It’s a safe, middle ground that blends in seamlessly at work or on the go.

The forerunner 35 includes two buttons: the start and mode button, and the backlight button.

I came across the Forerunner 35’s 0.93-inch, 128 x 128-pixel display simple to read in virtually any condition. It’s a lot brighter and crisper compared to the $149 Polar M200, a GPS watch that also offers heartrate monitor and smartphone notifications. Still, the Garmin Forerunner 35 seemed to be a bit brighter than TomTom Spark 3.

Navigating menus with only a down-arrow button proved more time-consuming than I would like. Too often, I selected an item by mistake from the Workout menu because I thought pressing the beginning workout button could move me back up a list. Perhaps a more intuitive way to scroll through menus would be helpful, such as using the left and right arrows on your keyboard.

Garmin Forerunner 35 The band does not come off, so you’ll need a screwdriver to adjust the size.

Performance

The Forerunner 35 cannot track the same number of activities as the TomTom Spark 3 Cardio watch.

The Forerunner 35 s GPS signal took a few extra minutes to get because of its lower price, but the wait was usually worth it for a more accurate report on my running route that spread.

I have found that the Forerunner 35 is slow to detect heartbeats. Several times on runs, my heartrate was stuck around 150-160 for a whole minute until suddenly jumping to 170 or higher for the remainder of my run. I wasn t wearing this Garmin forerunner 35 during a strenuous sprint. I maintained a consistent and comfortable pace throughout my run.

Though less customizable than other Garmin devices, the Forerunner 35 does alert you of incoming texts. I could read these texts from my phone and even reject or respond to an incoming call using the watch. The Forerunner 35 was useful because it gave me all of this information right on my wrist.

Garmin created the Forerunner 35 to be simple enough for people who need encouragement when it comes to staying active.

Battery Life

The Forerunner 35 can last up to nine days in watch mode and at least thirteen hours while running. I wore it for a complete week and the battery never went below half full. The Forerunner comes with a tiny USB charging cable that’s easy to carry and stays securely in place.

Bottom Line

The Forerunner 35 is an average, if unexceptional, running watch. It includes a safe design and connects rapidly with GPS satellites, so it can last a few days on a charge. If you want more features for your GPS watch that cost somewhat more than $30, I would recommend the TomTom Spark 3 Cardio + Music. Further, the TomTom Spark 3 permits you to stream music from the watch to your headphones. But it typically does not cost any more. However, if money is an issue, one might find more worth with the Polar M200 which doesn’t have as bright a display but includes much of the same features for $
