5 Best WD My Passport 4TB Black Friday or Cyber Monday Deals 2021

It doesn’t help that WD keeps the same names for its hard drive ranges, even if newer models come out every year. Take the My Passport Ultra, for instance: Blog Black Friday first reviewed it in 2013. In past builds, there were a different design and less space available than today’s model

This product includes an OEM drive that is unavailable on the open market. The maximum capacity of WD’s notebook computer drives is currently 2TB. It

We realized that this hard drive has 5,400RPM platters – a likely reason why the drive is thicker than it should be. We don’t know the cache capacity, but what we can conclude from our observations is that this particular model performs worse than the G-Tech 2TB mobile USB-C drive.

The WD My Passport Ultra took just under 100 seconds to transfer our 10GB test file. This is one of the slower drives we’ve reviewed recently due to this drive getting quickly warm and producing an audible hum (about 48dB if you put your ear against it).

The WD Discovery software works as a dashboard for your My Passport drive. From here, you can pull the plug on the LED light and create a password for the hard drive with an AES 256-bit hardware encryption. In addition, it carries an iPhone app store that provides immediate access to free and paid apps at reduced prices. However, among these software end encryption stick Encrypt – is obsolete. You should get some of these free tools, which are useful and cost nothing.

WD Upthere.com appears to be the solution for those that are searching for a cloud storage server outside of Dropbox.

The free offer from Dropbox doesn’t feel like enough given today’s data requirements, and you don’t want to burn through your available space with this in mind. With WD Upthere, you only pay $1

Final verdict Although a three-year warranty is standard, the WD My Passport Ultra 4TB (2019) offers decent performance and comes at a fair price.

In the past few years, we’ve seen very little innovation in the lightweight hard disk drive market. With all drives at 4TB max and pricing being the only real metric these devices are judged on, there’s no need or desire to improve.

If you are considering buying an external hard drive, the Seagate Expansion is a good option. For one, it’s $25 cheaper than some others on the market. And for two, it has three years of warranty coverage and comes with a Creative Cloud membership worth $20.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive and reliable hard drive, then the My Passport Ultra 4TB is worth checking out. It lacks some of the extra amenities offered on other models, but its cheaper price tag makes it a good bargain as long as you don’t need hardware encryption and a three-year warranty.

In general, our recommendation would be the My Passport Ultra if you need the extended 3-year warranty and want a Type-C connector. The drive’s performance is comparable to others in its class, but it’s more affordable.
