We buy all of the hoverboards we test them through a standardized analysis of customer care, battery life, fun factor and outdoor capabilities. The results are quantifiable and reproducible. When we make comparisons between different items, it’s important to realize they may be on a sliding scale.

One important aspect of a hoverboard is how much fun it provides. We reviewed the Hovertrax and found that it had many flaws in this area.
The Razor was receptive to my concern about its balance.
Our panel of riders rode the Hovertrax hoverboard through a series of obstacle courses; it proved to be jittery and overly sensitive. It’s also lacking in terms of energy. Upon executing the required maneuver of back-and-forth, we noted that there was a lack of stability in the motors. The rider could sometime dismount suddenly if they didn’t have a firm grip on the board
The Razor Hovertrax 2.0 has a maximum weight limit of 220 lbs and it prohibits access to boards for those under age 8.
The product, however, has a few flaws. Its speed exceeds the manufacturer s advertised max of 6 mph and is only available in five colors. However, we wouldn’t recommend maxing out our razor hoverboard as it felt unstable at high speed.
We had to replace our Razor hoverboard after a few weeks because of the cracks it sustained while driving across dips and bumps.
The Hovertrax broke during our outdoor performance testing, but the company does honor its warranty and issued a replacement unit in this case. In this test, we examine how the Razor Hoverboard will fare on bumpy or uneven surfaces. The Razor failed to safely cross a crack in the pavement, indicating that it does not make for an ideal alternative off of mostly flat and smooth terrain.
This board felt like it could lose traction in steeper hills.
When buying a hoverboard, look for a company with good customer service. Remember, there are two types of them-pro and pro+. We got the pro+, and in between every sentence we were poofed! Sometimes it as simple to provide technological advice. Occasionally, this may mean replacement or repair is required. The Razor delivered a decent performance on these metrics, but we wouldn’t call your performance ‘stellar’.
Razor seemed to be working hard to replace our hoverboard, but we never got the chance to speak with any of their support staff. You can also speak to Razor by email if they so desire. This board comes with a 90-day limited warranty.
Hoverboards with nine-hour batteries can only travel approximately 3.4 miles on a single charge, which may not be enough for your personal needs. Even worse, the Hovertrax only lasted 69 minutes in our obstacle course run time test.
The Hovertrax 2.0 had the shortest battery life of all models we tested.
We also took note of the time it takes for the battery to recharge after being completely drained. The Vapore seems to take about 160 minutes which is less than average but not too long either so you should be all set until you have access to a power source once again.
Hovertrax 2.0 is not a cost-effective item, as it has issues that need to be resolved before.
I want to start by saying that I appreciated how Razor stood behind their hoverboards and offered great customer service. Staff members were both helpful and polite, which is especially nice because these boards are expensive. We were very disappointed with the Hoverboard’s performance. Not only does this product not complete many of our tests, it is also the only board testers refused to ride more than once as they made them feel uneasy. In our opinion, the Hovertrax cannot compete with any other board in this review.
