Best 5 Huawei Tablet: Are They Still The King? Black Friday & Cyber Monday 2021

Huawei s been making major moves in laptops (the MateBook X Pro is a favorite, we love it ), and its tablets are often overlooked. We think these two make the most sense, as they both stack up well against other similarly-priced consumer media tablets. The MediaPad M5 Pro has a long battery life and in addition comes with a stylus, but the smaller version of the tablet doesn’t have as much battery power or sound quality.

Tablets are for the most part, a dime-a-dozen.

Design

Obtainable in Space Gray and a silver color that Huawei calls Champagne Gold, Huaweis metallic MediaPad M5 and M5 Pro look neat, and their shiny beveled edges provide them with an air of luxury. I came across that the 8.4-inch MediaPad M5 fit better in my own hands during everyday

The 0.7-pound, 0.3-inch thick MediaPad M5 is equal in weight and size to the 8-inch Lenovo Tab 4 8 (0.7 pounds, 0.3 inches). The 1.1-pound, 0.3-inch thick MediaPad M5 Pro is equal in proportions to the 9 1/

The USB Type-C port of each MediaPad M5s can be used for both charging and to transfer data, while its microSD card reader allows you to add up to 256GB of storage.

Display

The MediaPad M5 and M5 Pro tablets carry a strong display quality, so they have decent detail. I watched the Spider-Man: DEFINATELY NOT Home trailer on both computers, and I saw that both of them had similar color output with rendering the red in Spidey s suit strongly. Between the two tablets, I found that text appeared clearer and more readable on the M5 Pro s larger 10.4-inch screen. And because these tablets possess 2K displays, I was able to start to see textures of Spiderman s suit as he swung through Venice

According to your eyebelt, the M5 Pro and M5 produced respectively 147% and 135% of the sRGB gamut with Vivid color mode enabled. These ratings beat out those from category average as well as the results from iPad (119%), Tab 4 10 Plus (109%) and Tab 4 8 90%). Though both tablets have a basic sRGB and Vivid options, the M5 Pro offers better contrast in Vivid mode.

Both Huawei MediaPad M5 and M5 Pro get pretty bright. The M5 produces 401 nits, as the M5 Pro emits up to 378 nits, measurements that fall on both sides of 394-nit tablet average.
The Tab 4 10 Plus is similarly bright, as the iPad (489 nits) and Lenovo Tab When viewed at an angle, the color of the letterbox bars in video look pinkish.

Both of the MediaPad M5 tablets offer an accurate and responsive touch-screen. Yet, when scrolling through Google Chrome tabs there is a hitch with the input response when I pulled down settings menu from any tab on both tablets.

Audio

One notable difference between the Harman Kardon-branded MediaPad M5 tablet models is audio quality.

The MediaPad M5 has good sound quality, but it’s a little compressed when compared to speaker-only systems.

Performance

The MediaPad M5 Pro (Kirin 960s CPU with 4GB of RAM) and the MediaPad M5 (Kirin 960 CPU with 4GB of RAM) offer a comparable performance. I saw solid responsiveness when testing each tablet, splitting the screen to show YouTube playing 1080p videos on one side and Chrome with twelve tabs open on the

On the Geekbench 4 general performance benchmark, we saw good scores from the MediaPad M5 Pro (5,868) and the MediaPad M5 (6,457). Both tablets beat out our category average of 4,363 points. The Tab4 10 Plus scored below with a score of 4,097 while the Tab4 8

The MediaPad M5 and M5 Pro were not impressive to me when I started playing PUBG Mobile. Set at Medium, the graphics never reached a quality that made me want to play more than just once or twice. Adam Ismail noted this is what you would expect from an average midrange Android device; he also said it generally doesn t

The M5 Pro’s M-Pen

In addition to being pressure-sensitive, the M5 Pro’s Huawei M-Pen stylus will offer tilt recognition. Drawing thin lines and shading is possible on this tablet. Autodesk Sketchbook runs smoothly with low latency as I doodled.

The top of the line M-Pen is a chargeable, full size styli that also comes with an integrated translator for translating whatever you are writing at the time into text. The Pixel Slate beta I used effectively transcribed my handwriting to text. Neither the iPad nor Lenovo s Tab 4 did so as well when given a similar test, though both did have their strengths.
Rebuilt from scratch: This smart device transcribes what I’ve written into words better than any other tablet I’ve seen thus far Windows 10 has an announced free update for Fall / Autumn 2019.

The reason why Huawei thinks the M5 Pro will be worth $120 more than the iPad is likely because of its stylus, unlike Apple’s Pencil that costs an additional $99.

Battery Life

The battery life for their tablet is primarily determined by the model you get. The MediaPad M5 Pro scored a blistering 12 minutes, while the M5 got only 5:48. The iPad and Tab 4 8 (10:07 for both) lasted as long as the M5 Pro, while the Tab 4 10 Plus (13:06) survived longer.

Cameras

The MediaPad M5 and M5 Pro have a 13-megapixel rear camera, but the front camera is only 8 megapixels.

In the photographs I took on 42nd Street in NY, I captured the perfect hues of yellow taxis and the cement front facade of our office building.

The selfies I shot show accurate threading detail on my scarf as well as a good portrayal of my skin tones. The shots were soft and took away from the clarity, leaving me disappointed.

And their beauty mode was disabled by default: that wasn’t the explanation.

Software

I have some good news and some bad news. The MediaPad M5 and M5 Pro run Android 8.0 Oreo, but Huawei has skinned the tablets with its EMUI 8.0 software, which is a little excessive in my opinion. The touch display is activated by swiping from the same side as the volume buttons. If you swipe up, for example, it will drop into a lock-screen to select which application to open.

Closing your applications may seem like a good way to flush out some of the unused resources, but there is no science to it. The MediaPads, in addition to having strong specifications on their own, come with a Tablet Manager for cleanup and optimization.

After searching the internet on both Chrome and YouTube, I ran a few benchmark tools. I saw small differences in scores from my previous results, with only around 100 points each when testing Geekbench before and after all these fixes. (The cheapest total score was 5,900.) These software may give users an easier way to force-quit apps, but I d probably keep them hidden in a folder on the secondary screen.
