Dell’s Inspiron 11 3000 2-in-1 is a surprisingly powerful budget option for secondary notebooks and good starter PCs. If the battery life had been longer and its own display wasn’t so dim, it would have been considered a steal.

The Inspiron 11 s 1366 x 768 screen is insufficient for any kind of serious video watching, even on a budget laptop. When I watched the Thor: Ragnarok trailer on it, I noticed dark gray hues over the corners of an underground lair and it dulled Hulk’s green skin tone. This inexpensive notebook doesn t offer a 1080p screen, but at least the trailer didn’t have any pixelation problems.
The Inspiron 11 reproduced only 69 percent of the sRGB spectrum, which falls below the average for laptops in general.
The Inspiron 11 emitted 146 nits of brightness, and it was less than the 287-nit category typical, the poor 196-nit browsing we acquired from the nontouch Inspiron and the acceptably dazzling screens in the Transformer Mini (372 nits) and Ideapad Miix (255 nits). This laptop’s screen becomes dimmer and colors become less vibrant at 30 degrees from the left or right side of the display.
The Inspiron 11 3000 2-in-1 laptop is one of the dimmest screens we ve reviewed, at 3.3 out of 10.
The touchscreen on this Dell laptop was solid for the purchase price, and it tracked my input accurately. Unfortunately, I found that gestures did not respond quickly when I was navigating or doodling/dragging my finger to choose an area of space.
Keyboard and Touchpad
In spite of being affordable, the keyboard is better than you’d expect. The keys are spaced out a bit too much and overall it’s not as smooth to type on as other laptops, but the feel in your fingertips is still there for sure. Many people may not like the shallow keys, but at least they only require 69 grams of force to activate.
The keyboard on the Inspiron 11 s is better than either of its competitors, especially laptops like the Transformer Mini or Ideapad Miix.
The notebook’s 3.9 x 2.1-inch buttonless touchpad offers a company click to every single touch and registers input accurately, making it as accurate as models 3 times its price.
You don’t expect clear audio from a $350 laptop, but the Inspiron 11 3000’s performance was surprising. The speaker system of this notebook delivered a good rendition of “Onset” by Sinjin Hawke, with very accurate claps and synth blasts.

I kept the Dell Audio tracks application collection to its MaxxSense default, and did not make any additional changes as it caused muffled or distorted audio.
The Inspiron 11 3 Pentium N3710 processor and 4GB of RAM allow for an impressively high number of tabs. I opened six wide open chrome windows, as well a 1080P YouTube stream on the screen with no delays noticing. I found that opening a seventh tab caused the screen to stutter.
The Inspiron 11s scored 3,179 on the Geekbench 3 benchmark test. This is higher than that of the nontouch Inspiron (Intel Celeron N3060 CPU), Ideapad Miix (Intel Atom x5-Z8350 CPU) and Transformer Mini T102HA (Atom x5-Z8350
The Dell Inspiron 11 laptop has a 500GB, 5,400 RPM SATA hard drive that copied 4.97GB of multimedia files in 3 minutes and 48 seconds for an interest rate of 22.6 MBps; this is much slower than the 36.7 MBps on the Ideapad Miix 310 (32GB eMMC)
The Inspiron 11 took 12 minutes and 50 seconds to complete our OpenOffice productivity test (matching 20,000 names with their addresses). That’s shorter than the time from the Transformer Mini (17:32), nontouch Inspiron (13:14) or Ideapad Miix (16:55).
The Inspiron 11 2-in-1 is not a good gaming system, as it ran Dirt 3 (set at medium) only 21 fps. The Transformer Mini did even worse at 15 fps.
The Dell Inspiron 11 lagged behind many of its competitors in our tests, lasting only 5 hours and 13 minutes on the Laptop Mag battery test.
Webcam: Another meh-cam
Having a webcam is not great, but it’s the best we have for now.
The Inspiron 11’s underside heats up significantly when utilizing the notebook on your lap or at a desk, and exceeded our 95 degree comfort threshold after streaming video for a quarter-hour. The laptop’s touchpad (75 degrees) and G and H keys (92.5 degrees) stayed cool.
Software and Warranty
The Inspiron 11 3000 2-in-1 includes the same amount of bloatware we expect from all Dell machines, including SupportAssist for programs and warranty information, and Vitality Manager Lite for adjusting battery settings. It also includes a Windows 10 operating system, which means you have access to Microsoft’s own personal computer programs as well. Netflix, Candy Crush Soda Saga, Sling and Minecraft are some of the most popular
Dell offers three types of the Inspiron 11 3000 2-in 1 laptops. The Intel Inspiron we analyzed costs $349 and includes a Pentium N3710 processor, 4GB of RAM and 500 gigabyte hard drive disk. The entry level £259 model bumps you right down to a Celeron N3060 CPU (though still with

If you are looking for an inexpensive convertible laptop, the Dell Inspiron 11 3000 2-in-1 is fast for its $350 price tag. We also loved it’s surprisingly good sound and fun color options. Luckily, the battery life and display screen brightness are excellent!
The Lenovo Ideapad Miix 310 manages twice as long on the same charge, but you will be forgoing performance and getting a worse keyboard. Unless you want a touchscreen, consider the nontouch Inspiron 11 3000 – though it is slower. However, if all you need to buy is a secondary laptop or your kid’s primary laptop, the Dell Inspiron 11 3000 2-in-1 is probably not the best option.
