Is Kanye West Dead?
No, he’s not. He’s alive and doing well.
Fans worldwide were shocked and saddened by the internet rumors that Kanye West had died.
Nonetheless, it is now known that the supposed death was a complete hoax.
Thankfully, Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband is still very much with us.
Kanye West, the Latest Victim of Facebook Death Hoax
After news surfaced that the “Praise God” rapper had vanished, rumors began circulating that he had been murdered. This contributed to widespread speculation about his death on Friday when a Facebook page dedicated to his memory received close to a million likes.
Surprisingly, the Facebook page’s About section provided a plausible explanation for Kanye West’s supposed death to the Internet community. What it said was:
“At about 11 a.m. ET on Friday (December 30, 2022), our beloved singer Kanye West passed away. Kanye West was born on June 8, 1977 in Chicago. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
After hearing that Kanye West was allegedly deceased, many of his followers promptly sent condolences on the Facebook page. But, as usual, Twitter was the major factor in the death hoax’s rapid propagation.
Though some of their devoted fans were quick to accept the sad news, others were understandably skeptical, maybe having seen too many hoaxes about the deaths of their favorite stars in recent years.
Some have speculated that it was all an elaborate fake because no major American network covered the incident. If a musician of Kanye West’s stature had died, the news would have been all over the news channels.
Kanye West Death Hoax Finally Debunked
Soon after the death hoax spread like wildfire on social media platforms, the representatives of Kanye West came out and officially confirmed that Kanye West was alive and doing well.
Here’s the official statement –
“He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet.”
How Did the Fake Death Hoax of Kanye West Started Circulation?
There were rumors that Kanye West was “missing” after his former manager said he had been unable to contact the rapper for weeks.
According to The Independent, Thomas St. John, who worked as Kanye West’s senior financial advisor for 18 months, is now suing him for unpaid wages.
After reportedly failing to track down Kanye West, Thomas St. John asked the court for extra time to serve the rapper with the lawsuit papers.
Defendant Kanye West, aka Ye, is mentioned in the papers. Court documents acquired by The US Sun reveal that Thomas St. John is requesting more time to serve Kanye West.
According to the rumor mill, Thomas St. John and his crew had difficulty getting in touch with Kanye West’s lawyers.
“We were advised about a new law firm for defendants, but not a specific point of contact. We subsequently learned of information in the news that the law firm identified as new counsel was not affiliated with the defendants,” the court filing said.
“Accordingly, we have not been able to serve defendants through their counsel. As a general matter, we have had difficulty confirming the best current address of Kanye West,” it added.
